THE BARREL IS MACHINED BY COMPASS LAKE ENGINEERING TO MY DESIGNED PROFILE FROM A PREMIUM DOUGLAS BLANK. THE RATE OF TWIST IS 1 IN 7 AND HAS A WYLDE CHAMBER AND M4 RAMPED BARREL EXTENSION.
IT UTILIZES A RIFLE LENGTH GAS SYSTEM TO OPTIMIZE RELIABILITY AND ALLOW THE USE OF A 12 INCH RAIL SYSTEM AND STILL USE A BARREL MOUNTED FRONT SIGHT IF DESIRED.
I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED THE 18 INCH SPR LENGTH AND CONCEPT BUT NEVER MUCH CARED FOR THE WEIGHT AND BALANCE OF THEM.

ARMOR-TECH(TM) IS A REVOLUTIONARY NEW WAY TO MAKE A STAINLESS STEEL BARREL BLACK IN A MOST ATTRACTIVE MANNER.
Heat proof, scratch proof, very corrision resistand, 90 Rockwell and best of all, CHEAP.
For the sake of simplicity we will just call this a barrel finish but it goes way beyond that simple term. It is a PROCESS.
In brief: The barrels are bead blasted and cleaned like a surgical instrument. They are then placed into a vacuum chamber. The metal used in the finish is then introduced into the vacuum chamber in a gaseous state and then heat and current are applied.
The finish is not just on the surface but actually becomes part of the matrix of the stainless steel the barrel is made of and becomes part of it,. It is imbeded at the molecular level. The surface when seen under a microscope is a bunch of little cylinders, think of them as little oil drums or cans which hold surface lubricants in this matrix.
Even un-oiled this finish will withstand a 48 hour salt water test. Great corrosion resistance.
ARMOR-TECH(tm) will not fade, peel, crack, chip, heat discolor or scratch.
Rockwell hardness is around 90.
ARMOR-TECH is only 5 Microns thick. This is 5 thousandths thousandths of an inch. In short that means gas block will slide right on with no drama as virtually nothing is added to the original barrel dimensions, threads are unaffected and no special masking is required to allow for paint build up like with KG Gun-Kote or Dura Coat.
The result is a jet black Stainless Steel match barrel that will never discolor from heat, will never scratch and will have superior resistance to corrosion than the stainless itself.
